The PEI Crafts Council 2026 AGM
The AGM was well attended by 35 members on June 2, 2026. We started off our agenda with the minutes, financial reports, budget and electing a new Board. Then we talked about the plans for the upcoming year.

The Lister Trophy was presented by Arlene MacAusland to Jane Whitten. Jane is an accomplished basket weaver and knitter contributing to the awareness of craft and the environment with her work.

The Craft Community Support Award was presented by Sandi Dewar to Yvonne Duivenvoorden of Alley Street Clay Club. Yvonne created a new community pottery studio, a thriving hub of creativity for both new potters just starting out, as well as veteran potters happily sharing their experience and knowledge.

PEI Crafts Council Christmas Craft Fair
Summer in THE STUDIOS
For the month of July, Pam from Zoopothecary spent her residency working on her scratcboard art. Visitors to her studio could try their hand at this style of art.

For the month of June, Maggie J. Whitten Henry (@recursiveislandness) took up residence at THE STUDIOS. During her residency, Maggie explored the concept of ‘lines’ and themes of climate change (particularly ‘climate stripes’) through textile experimentation and quilting techniques. Visitors enjoyed making a quilt block for the community quilt. Maggie has continued her residency through August. The studio works for Maggie and has been beneficial to enable her the space she needs to complete her project.

Gloria Wooldridge spent her ARTIST RESIDENCY time in THE STUDIOS working on a couple of sketchbook projects which will be part of a larger, 6-sketchbook 2-year project/series.
One of the sketchbooks in progress will have illustrations and information on PEI birds, and the other sketchbook is a “block walk” project and will focus on some of the architecture in the downtown area.
Poetry, specifically haikus which are typed on a vintage typewriter, will be included in the sketchbooks as well as any bits of interesting information etc

Joining Gloria in the same studio space during June was Olga Oresanya.
Olga was creating new paintings based on PEI’s coastline, fields, and skies, while continuing to refine her use of colour, composition, and surface. The studio space gave her the space she needed to spread out, experiment and build on a cohesive body of work.

2026 PEI Arts and Heritage Guides are here and available for pick up at the PEI Crafts Council, 98 Water Street, and also at the Visitor Information Centres across the island.
This is the 2026 version (hand picked strawberries and pottery by Jessica Hutchinson). Old copies should be removed from your displays as we have new participants and locations this year.
The Big Craft Fair Scam of 2026 continues. We are bombarded with emails from scammers and concerned individuals each week.
