PEI Crafts Council Craft Development Grant

The purpose of this grant is to promote development and training in crafts at a professional level. (i.e. workshops, conferences, study tours, specialized research and exhibitions). Priority is given to projects in the applicants current medium of work. Priority is given to applicants currently producing craft for sale or exhibit.

Funding is available for both individuals and craft related organizations.

Individuals must be a Professional member of the PEICC, in good standing, for a minimum of 1 year. Individual applicants must be Canadian citizens and have been a resident of P.E.I. for at least 1 year prior to application.

Organizations must be a member of the PEICC, for a minimum of 1 year and based on PEI.

Individuals/Organizations:

  1. Organizations (Guilds/Coops/Associations) are eligible for funding, when qualified/certified instructors are hired (from off-Island or on-Island) to facilitate the course/workshop.

    Individuals are eligible for funding, when attending courses on P.E.I. which are facilitated by qualified/certified instructors.

  2. Individuals are eligible for funding to attend courses/workshops off-Island which are facilitated by qualified/certified instructors at a recognized institution of craft and design.

    Individuals/Organizations are eligible for funding to participate in regional, national and international conferences;


    Individuals are are eligible for funding assistance to mount an exhibition on or off-Island (eligible expenses: advertising, opening receptions, invitations, postage).

Some projects may not be eligible for funding under the professional development program, i.e. workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. which are sponsored or subsidized by the council, government, guilds and/or other organizations.

Individuals - Projects must be in the medium you have been juried and are currently working and producing craft for sale and/or exhibit.

Priority will be given to projects which will return benefits to the P.E.I. craft sector.

Successful applicants would be expected to provide a written report for publication in the P.E.I.C.C. Newsletter and/or monthly report and make a presentation at the P.E.I.C.C. Annual General Meeting.

Up to 50% of the eligible budget could be approved for funding, to a maximum of $500.00. Up to 70% of approved funding may be advanced to successful applicants, with the balance being paid out upon receipt of statement, receipts and a written report.

Any unused portion of funding must be returned to the P.E.I.C.C. Funding for the same project, will only be given once in a five year period (ie. conferences). Approved funds cannot be used for substitute projects.
