Attn PEI Artisans: Submit your proposal for the summer 2020 fine craft exhibition “Creative Obsession” to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail Confederation Centre Art Gallery 145 Richmond St. Charlottetown C1A1J1
Deadline 29 Nov. 2019.
An Exhibition Celebrating Craft Year 2020
PEI artisans will have a unique opportunity to celebrate Craft Year 2020 through an exhibition of fine craft to be held in the Frederick and Martin Ogden Gallery of the Confederation Centre of the Arts, presented in partnership with the PEI Crafts Council. Throughout the summer of 2020, the six glass display cases in the high-traffic concourse will feature work by Island craftspeople.
Both emerging and established artisans are invited to submit proposals for this juried show which will focus on the theme of creative obsession. Whether it is a recurring motif or other manifestation of your artistic expression, we would like to see how you have explored these elements and developed them over time in your practice.
Expressions of interest must illustrate your own obsession through images of past work, sketches for future work, and a discussion of how your particular theme has directed your work. In addition to a new example of your obsession, there will be opportunity to include background for this theme through earlier work, photography, or other methods of display. Expressions of interest should be 200-300 words and no more than five images, in addition to your c.v. Files should be forwarded via email to email@example.com and should include Creative Obsessions and your name in the subject line. Alternatively, the package may be mailed to Confederation Centre of the Arts 145 Richmond Street Charlottetown PE C1A1J1. All materials must be received by 29 November 2019.
Proposals will be reviewed by the exhibition committee and a selection made early in December. It is hoped that a wide range of craft mediums will be submitted including clay, fibre, glass, metal, wood, etc. The physical limitations of the glass display cases should be kept in mind when proposing items for display. Studio visits by the curator will be conducted through the winter and all work must be ready for submission by the beginning of May 2020. Items will remain on display through the summer of 2020. Artists will receive standard exhibition fees. Any sales of exhibited work will be handled directly between the artisan and the purchaser, bearing in mind that all work accepted will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be included in this exhibition, be featured online and in the illustrated brochure, and take part in related programming. This call for expressions of interest is open to all PEI artisans. For more information contact the PEI Crafts Council at firstname.lastname@example.org or 902-892-5152.
