Building a Brand that Connects Course

So many businesses plateau at a certain point and remain stuck, unable to grow because we don't realize we've developed unproductive habits. You may also have been hesitant to seek advice which would enable and accelerate change and growth. By building a solid foundation your business will grow and increase sustainability. Your business needs a solid foundation in place. In this 6 course interactive workshop, we're going to discover what makes you and your craft business unique and how you can create more of an impact and emotional connection with your dream customer. A private Facebook group will be created for Q&A, discussing weekly assignments and for support and dialog peer to peer and instructor to participant.

  Jeanette Walker has been in business for 24 years. She graduated George Brown College with honours from a 3 year Jewellery program and was hired as a teacher's assistant in her graduating year. Since her graduation she has owned  and operates a successful jewellery business, owned a brick & Mortar gallery and now runs her business "By appointment Only" and sells via an online boutique. She also mentors and coaches over 600 international jewellery designers via Online training for Flourish & Thrive academy and organizes and runs accountability circles for entrepreneurs. 

Topics Jeanette will cover by week:

  • Week 1:  Discover your unique selling Proposition - Identify your why, your vision and mission - Setting and achieving goals that support your vision

  • Week 2: How to Identify and connect with  your dream client.

  • Week 3: How to develop a cohesive collection and signature style that sells (collection reviews)

  • Week 4: How Price for profit 

  • Week 5: Evaluation of your current sales and setting realistic goals

  • Week 6: Sales and relationship building - creating outstanding customer service

Tips & Tricks for The Production Potter

This workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced potters looking for new ideas and techniques. An understanding of throwing, finishing and glazing is an asset. Also this workshop is an introduction to a series of regular workshops for intermediate potters at “Happy Potter” studio for more in depth teaching and learning.

Robert McMillan is a full time production potter living and working in Stratford, PEI with over 45 years of pottery making experience and his production functional stoneware and porcelain pottery is sold in galleries all over the Maritimes.

Workshop Outline

Start 9:00 Am

Throwing Demo and talk

  • Production throwing techniques

  • Creating altered forms

  • Minimum trimming

12:00 pm Lunch Break (1 hour)

Resume 1:00 pm Slide show and talk

2:00 pm – 3pm Glaze demo and talking

  • Spray techniques and glazes

  • Equipment and maintenance.

3pm – 4pm Trimming and construction techniques

Q & A time

Christmas Craft Show

Our fabulous annual Christmas Craft Show will return for the 55th time and will be held at the Delta Hotel convention Centre by the Charlottetown water front. This show is very well attended and is a great opportunity to showcase your work. We are so excited to be back at the Delta Convention Centre and will be located in the rooms looking over the beautiful waterfront. Sign up soon to secure your booth

Drawing for the Designer/Maker

This class will focus on developing drawing skills as a means of thinking, planning, problem solving, unleashing creativity and completion in fine Craft. Class content will be an aid for designer- makers who like to express themselves by creating, be it through silk painting, pottery, sculpture, silver smithing, print making, painting, fashion design, and more! 

Topics will include:

  • Intro to drawing using lines

  • Exploring the Elements of design

  • Exploring the Principles of design

  • Observing and recording the directional nature of light on objects

  • Putting it all together in a final project

The versatile experience Elena received during her work with international and local clients, along with her longtime focus on brand development services, led Elena to found Art Fresh Creative Studio in 2011, soon after she moved to Canada from Kyiv, Ukraine.

Recently Elena was invited to be a member of the A’ Award jury at A’ Design Award & Competition in 2018. A’ Design Award is a prestige design competition that every year takes place in Italy to indicate a quality and perfection in design and innovations. Elena Herweyer is a Member of National Artist’s Union of Ukraine. Participate in art exhibitions/projects and have paintings in private collections in Ukraine, Germany, Poland, USA and Canada. Several advertising works of Elena Herweyer have earned awards at the Annual International Festivals of Advertising. The recent awards are a Best of Show and Silver at the Summit Creative Awards, USA, 2018 with 5,000 submissions from 26 countries.

The season of wholesale trade shows in the Maritimes is coming up in January!

Are you considering wholesaling your craft to retailers but aren’t sure where to start, how to price your craft and how to make sales? Then now is the time to find out!

This fun, fast-paced and interactive two-day workshop will provide the information you need to get on the wholesaling path!

Craft Wholesaling 101 provides practical, applicable, step-by-step thinking points and exercises that give you tools and information you need to break into the wholesale market. It covers the gamut of what you need to consider from pricing and branding your product, to production schedules and client service so you know how to start your wholesaling business!

We also encourage you to bring a sample or two of your product to reference during the exercises and for you to get some one-on-one feedback!
