Helen Rowlands Fibre Artist: Helen Rowlands
Helen is a self taught wet felter and needle felter who s quite diverse in her field. She alternates between creating framed artwork, wool bowls and vessels, mittens, tea cosies and other decorative items for the home. All her work is felted by hand using a combination of specially processed wool from many different breeds of sheep and additional exotic fibres such as silk, mohair, camel and alpaca. These luxury fibres add different textures and interest to the basic (often hand dyed) wool core creating pieces that can be described as being more akin to art than craft.
